Yes. Our service will work with soft phones (similar to Skype). However to use your own regular telephones, you will require an ATA. Call quality is also much better by using an ATA device and your standard telephone. Please check out the support page or contact us for setup instructions and a download link to the Xlite soft phone (highly recommended) if you would like to use a soft phone.
We'll certainly try our best in any language! We can currently offer support in English, in French and Spanish.
The answer is yes, but all devices from CampusCom are already configured to make things easier for you to install. Furthermore, we try our best to offer you a low price on the devices, but if you already have one (must be unlocked) or can find one cheaper, then by all means go ahead! However, you will have to contact our tech support to have the ATA configured for our service.
First, make sure the you did do a complete "hard" reset on each device, that means unplugging everything for 5 minutes or so, then plugging in your cable/dsl modem, your SPA2102 and then your router. If this does not work, you may try and put your router after your cable/dsl modem and then your SPA2102, but you will definitely have to set up port forwarding, instructions found on the support page. You may also have to initiate QOS (Quality of Service) on your router for the SPA2102, to ensure it is prioritized by the router.
Yes you can! But we strongly advise that you limit your upload & download bandwidth devoted to P2P networks or simply pause these programs while talking on your CampusCom line. If you are constantly downloading large files, and are not leaving enough bandwidth for your CampusCom service, your telephone quality will suffer greatly.
If you are on a DSL connection, this is likely your modem losing DSL sync (the internet connection). Check to see if your phone conversation drop-outs are timed with light changes on your modem. If so, call your Internet Service Provider to fix the problem. This should in turn lead to a better CampusCom experience.
CampusCom allows Ulaw, Alaw, GSM and G729a codecs. By default we set your service to G729a codec as it is a quality codec which uses less bandwidth and therefore allows you to multitask on the internet more easily.
This is most likely your dial tone setting. Please contact our tech support to fix the problem, usually it can be resolved very quickly!
For a complete list of features and how to use them, see our Calling Features section. All of our packages include the following features free of charge: voicemail, call forwarding, call waiting, call display, blocking, music on hold, voicemail to email and conference calling. Try and get that from your old provider!
You access your voicemail account by dialing *97 on your telephone or softphone. You then enter the password that you were given by email when your account was activated.
Using call forwarding is very easy. Dial *72 on your phone/softphone. When you hear a higher pitched tone dial the number which you would like calls to be forwarded to (e.g. 6135558281). If you've entered it correctly you will hear multiple beeps. To turn off call forwarding (don't forget!) just dial *73, wait for the tones and hang up, et voila!
